Master:(V) Pattern recognition and intelligent Systems

The postgraduate major discipline of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems has five professors and three associate professors. This discipline mainly deals with the theory and application study which include Pattern Recognition and Image Processing and Analyzing, Intelligent Control and Robot, Data Mining and Decision Support Systems, Artificial Neural Networks and Intelligent Information Processing. The discipline has undertaken six state-level research projects such as the 863 Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China, and more than ten provincial-level ones. These researches have obtained a lot of distinctive and innovative achievements and won provincial-level Scientific and Technological Progress Award two third class and several other under-provincial-level ones. The corresponding theories have been widely used and have made better economic and social benefits.

The introduction to research domain:
(1) Pattern Recognition and Image Processing and Analyzing
 This direction mainly deals with the researches on fundamental theories and methods of pattern recognition and image processing and analyzing, the application of pattern recognition method to the recognition of the medical images and video ones. Another purpose is to obtain some achievements in the theory of pattern recognition by practice. Currently this direction has undertaken several research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of China of Jiangsu Province, Support Science and Technology Project and Horizontal Coordination with Enterprises and Government Institutions of Zhenjiang.

(2) Intelligent Control and Robot
This direction mainly deals with the researches on the theory formations of intelligent control, the human-simulation intelligent controller and its application, the intelligent fuzzy control and its application, the control, planning and application of robot. Currently this direction has undertaken several research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of China of Jiangsu Province, Support Science and Technology Project and Horizontal Coordination with Enterprises and Government Institutions of Zhenjiang.

(3) Image Database System
 This direction mainly deals with the researches on content-based image retrieval technique, feature extraction and data compression of ROI-based medical image, content-based image database management system. Currently this direction has undertaken several research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of China of Jiangsu Province, Support Science and Technology Project and Horizontal Coordination with Enterprises and Government Institutions of Zhenjiang.

(4) Data Mining and Decision Support Systems
his direction mainly deals with the researches of data mining technique based on privacy protection, data flow management method, ensemble technique of multi-classification, the development of component data mining platform, data warehouse decision support system based on network intelligence. Currently this direction has undertaken several research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of China of Jiangsu Province, Support Science and Technology Project and Horizontal Coordination with Enterprises and Government Institutions of Zhenjiang.

(5) Artificial Neural Networks and Intelligent Information Processing

 This direction mainly deals with the researches on constrained learning algorithms encoding a priori information for neural networks to improve its generalization performance, neural learning algorithms based on particle swarm optimization, the methods of analyzing and processing high complexity data such as DNA micro array data using neural networks and particle swarm optimization. Currently this direction has undertaken several research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of China of Jiangsu Province, Support Science and Technology Project and Horizontal Coordination with Enterprises and Government Institutions of Zhenjiang.
