General Principles

Article 1: To encourage oversea students to work hard, study hard, and promote innovation ability of them, the school of computer science and communication engineering sets up the scholarship for distinct overseas students. To prepare for the assessment, these measures are made for its implementation.

Article 2: The assessment of "Distinct Overseas Students Scholarship" is in line with the principles of "Openness, Fairness, Justice and Merit".

Chapter 2 Scholarship Types and Reward Rules

Article 3: The "Distinct Overseas Students Scholarship" includes three categories: "Overseas Student Excellent Learning Scholarship", "Overseas Student Outstanding Performance Scholarship", and "Postgraduates Freshman Scholarship".

Article 4: The "Overseas Student Excellent Learning Scholarship" is set to reward overseas student with diligent studying, hard working and excellent results, including undergraduates and postgraduates.

Article 5: The " Overseas Student Outstanding Performance Scholarship" is set to reward overseas students with excellent results in academic, professional competitions, cross-culture communication and volunteer labour, including undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD students.

Chapter 3 Scholarship Grades and Proportions

Article 6: The "Overseas Student Excellent Learning Scholarship" and the "Overseas Student Outstanding Performance Scholarship" have three grades: the first prize, second prize and third prize. The first, second and third grades reward 3000 yuan, 2000 yuan and 1000 yuan respectively. The "Overseas Student Excellent Learning Scholarship" accounts for 50% of total awards, including the first prize by 10%, the second prize by 15%, the third prize by 10%. 

Chapter 4 Scholarship Application Requirements and Methods

Article 7: "Overseas Student Excellent Learning Scholarship" Application Requirements

a) Students must study in school of computer science and communication engineering over a year and study for masters and doctoral degrees;

b) Students must abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government, and rules and regulations of Jiangsu University;

c) Students must follow one of the highlights within a year:

1) Having publications on academic journals (generally SCI journals) and important academic conferences with the affiliation name of Jiangsu University and the first author of themselves (or the second author with the first who is a staff of the school).

2) Having right attitude, work hard and obtain excellent results in preceding academic year.

Article 8: "Overseas Student Outstanding Performance Scholarship" Application Requirements

a) Students must study in school of computer science and communication engineering over a year;

b) Students must abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government, and rules and regulations of Jiangsu University;

c) Students must attend computer science related competitions, cross culture communications and volunteer jobs, and have rewards (university level above including university rewards); 

d) Students must take an active part in major public welfare activities, or join in all kinds of social practice and social work and obtain excellent performance;

Article 9: "Doctoral Postgraduates Freshman Scholarship" Application Requirements

a) Students must have been accepted as a PhD student at school of computer science and communication engineering;

b) Students must abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government, and rules and regulations of Jiangsu University;

Article 10: Students in any one of the following conditions cannot apply the "Distinct Overseas Students Scholarship": 

(1) Violate laws of China or regulations, rules, regulations of Jiangsu University, and have criminal detention, public security penalties or administrative disposition;

(2) Be late, leave early, be absent without reasons or serious violation of school rules;

(3) Fail the courses in teaching plan. 

Chapter 5 Scholarship Assessment

Article 11: Overseas student scholarship assessment committee will be set, which includes school leaders, director of computer science, director of international department of computer science, and lecturer delegates.

Article 12: Qualified candidates must apply with international department of computer science and submit application materials before due date, such as “School of Computer Science and Engineering Communication Overseas Student Scholarship Application Form”，transcripts of preceding academic year”, publications and reward certifications.

Article 13: International department of computer science will conduct qualification examination and preliminary examination, and release the shortlist.

Article 14: According to "Overseas Student Excellent Learning Scholarship", the international department of computer science will comprehensively investigate all candidates in the shortlist based on scores (Year 2: academic 30%, average GPA of preceding academic year 70%; Year 3: Academic 100%; Year 4 and later: no qualification), and generate an order list.

Article 15: School of computer science and communication engineering will confirm list of winners. The list will be released on the official site of school of computer science and communication engineering for seven days for further comments. The final list of winners will be reported to OEC.

Chapter 6: Others

Article 16: The interpretation power of these articles is owned by school of computer science and communication engineering of Jiangsu University.
