The research work of this research direction involves many cutting-edge topics in the fields of optical communication and ultra wideband communication, as well as many application studies of ultra wideband technology. At the same time, the high-resolution imaging technology, the application of nonlinear effects in optical fiber communication and the theoretical research of RFID are in the leading position in the world.

At present, the research direction has been supported by NSFC and many provincial and ministerial projects. It has also established stable cooperative research relationships with the University of Florida in the United States, the University of mid Sweden in Sweden and the University of Essex in the United Kingdom.

There are 3 professors and 5 associate professors in this field. A stable scientific research team and a good international exchange mechanism have been formed.
