On October 23rd, Professor Ben Zhiye, a specially appointed professor for young scholars in Qilu College, Shandong University, was invited by our university to give an academic report. The report was conducted online and offline, and was hosted by Professor Mao Qirong, the Dean of the School of Computer Science. More than 100 teachers and students in related fields listened to the report.

In this report, Professor Ben focuses on the theme of "Cross perspective Gait Recognition: Looking Back at the Past and Looking Forward to the Future". He mainly introduces the general methods of gait recognition from three aspects: data collection, feature representation, and classification. He further introduces three cross perspective gait recognition methods: constructing three-dimensional gait information, angle conversion models, and extracting viewpoint invariant features. Meanwhile, a comparative analysis was conducted on the performance of representative methods. Finally, prospects are made for the future development direction of cross perspective gait recognition technology. After the academic presentation, Professor Ben provided detailed answers to the concerns of our faculty and students.
